Storage Newington Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Newington in relation to the financial year ending 31 December 2025. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Newington has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, with integrity, and in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. We expect the same high standards from all parties we engage with, including suppliers, contractors, and business partners.
Our zero-tolerance policy is communicated internally to all employees and externally to all suppliers as a core condition of doing business with Storage Newington. Any actual or suspected instance of modern slavery is treated as a serious breach of our standards and may result in termination of contracts or other appropriate action.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Newington operates storage and related services in the United Kingdom. Our supply chains include providers of property and facility management services, construction and maintenance contractors, cleaning and security services, information technology, logistics, and office goods and services.
We recognise that some of these areas, particularly facilities, construction, and outsourced services, can carry higher risks of labour exploitation. We are committed to assessing and managing those risks proactively and transparently.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We conduct due diligence on new suppliers and periodically review existing suppliers based on risk. Our supplier onboarding processes require confirmation that suppliers comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws and that they maintain fair and safe working conditions.
Where appropriate, we carry out supplier audits, either directly or through independent third parties. These audits may include site visits, document reviews, and interviews with workers to verify compliance with our modern slavery expectations. Findings from audits are documented and followed up with corrective action plans where issues are identified.
Suppliers that fail to address identified issues or that are found to be involved in modern slavery may have their contracts suspended or terminated, depending on the severity and response to the concerns raised.
Policies, Training, and Employee Awareness
Our approach to modern slavery is supported by internal policies covering ethics, human rights, procurement, and whistleblowing. These policies outline our standards, responsibilities, and the consequences of non-compliance.
We provide training and guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities, and supplier management. This training helps staff understand the indicators of modern slavery, the risks within our operations and supply chains, and the actions required if concerns arise.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage Newington encourages employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise any concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour without fear of retaliation. Concerns can be reported through our internal reporting channels or in line with our whistleblowing policy.
Reports may be made to line managers or senior management, and can be submitted anonymously where local laws allow. All reports are taken seriously, treated confidentially as far as possible, and investigated promptly. Where necessary, we will engage external experts or authorities to support investigations and remedial actions.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery. We periodically review our risk assessments, supplier management processes, and training content to ensure they remain effective and aligned with best practice and evolving legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed and updated at least annually, or more frequently if required by changes in our business activities or legal obligations. Any revisions will reflect lessons learned, the outcomes of audits and investigations, and feedback from stakeholders.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Newington, who accept ultimate responsibility for ensuring that modern slavery risks are identified, managed, and mitigated across our operations and supply chains.
